Ground Turkey RecipesBurgerA beef hamburger is wonderful if prepared correctly, and creating ground turkey recipes simply by substituting ground turkey for ground beef produces a poor substitute. Pan-sear in skillet to brown, finish in 400 degree F. oven with or without added sauce to internal temperature of 165 and not pink inside.
MexicanMexican recipes work well to create ground turkey recipes partly because turkeys were indigenous to Mexico so cooking techniques have developed over a long time. Another reason is that the spices associated with Mexican cooking go very well with this low fat meat. It is easy to make a Mexican Burger by using the above recipe with 1 medium green bell pepper finely chopped in place of the mushrooms and add 2 cloves of minced garlic to the onions. You can also use salsa alone or mix it with corn. Add a 1.25 oz taco seasoning (either a packet or better yet mix your own - scroll to end for recipe) and a little salsa and maybe corn to the turkey. Make patties, dredge in breadcrumbs if you wish, and bake for 10 minutes, add salsa turn burgers and bake for another 10 minutes to an internal temperature of 165.
TacosTurkey tacos can be made with chopped pre-cooked turkey, or with ground turkey. Ground Turkey Taco1 pound ground turkey Heat oil in skillet. Add onion and bell pepper and cook over medium heat for about 3 minutes. Add the ground turkey, break up into small chunks with a wooden spoon and cook until no longer pink 5 to 7 minutes. Add the salsa water and taco seasoning and heat for 5 minutes more or until the liquid is reduced. Use as a filling in a warmed taco shell and top with any of the following or your own ingredients: lettuce, avocado, tomato, shredded cheese, hot sauce, sour cream.
