Amazing Animals

I usually raise chickens, on a small scale for eggs, and pets, but I tried the Hoemsteaders Delight from McMurray Hatcheries this spring. This was a variety of different birds, including a Bourbon Red Turkey, that I have fallen in love with.

Though young, I think it is a tom, and he has a personality and a half. I let Charlie out of his pen, with supervision for a few minutes every day, and this is our "bonding" time.

He follows me around the yard, and talks "happy talk" to me - I guess he thinks I am a turkey too, ha! ( I know my neighbors get a kick out of me, talking to my turkey, and turning over boards for him to eat the bugs underneath, etc...)
